    The Pre-Session Call

If you’ve made it this far, chances are you are already considering booking a dog portrait session. The next step is a nice and easy one: reach out and say hi!

We will arrange a phone call or chat over email to make sure you have all the information you need to be reassured that your dog will have a wonderful photography experience with me.

All of the following will be discussed (YES! In order of importance!):

    1. Your Dog’s Personality / Needs
    2. Location
    3. Date/Time/Your desired outcomes
    4. Any additional questions

    The session

This is the best part of it all: the dog portrait session.

Before we begin, I’ll brief you on a couple of simple steps but this is all about having fun together! This won’t be what you expected. Instead, your dog will be given time to get to know me, the camera and the location. There’s no clock-watching here, we take the whole portrait session in our stride and your dog can stay on lead if needed.

Think of this as a relaxing dog walk with a few stops of photographs here and there. Once it’s all over, you’ll be amazed at what we’ve achieved with your dog.

    The big reveal

Or is this the best part of it all?

In between our session and our viewing, I’ll have been hard at work on some retouching magic to give your images some extra “wow”.

The viewing session itself can be an extremely emotional experience - you have been warned! You’ll see the selections from your final gallery, often seeing your dog in a whole new light, and make decisions on which images you’d like to take home with you and how you’d like them presented.

This session is approached in the exact same way my portrait sessions are: zero pressure or expectations from me.

FAQs

  • You don’t need to worry about this at all! It is a professional photographer’s job to understand their camera enough to successfully work with a wiggly subject such as a dog! Also, I’ll make a lot of weird noises and that usually helps. I am well-versed in dog behaviour and will be able to walk you through all the ways we can make magic happen for us and your dog. Plus, the photos are even more amazing when they don’t sit!

  • Absolutely! Most of the dogs I photograph are on leash in their images! I do a lot of photographing of dogs while they’re on the busy streets of London. The dogs safety is always at the forefront of my work and as such, dogs are kept on lead during urban sessions so you needn’t worry about leashes getting in the way of any photo. At the shoot, I will show you how best to hold the leash so that it is easily removed during post processing.

  • I am besties with quite a few reactive dogs. I have also done a course in canine reactivity, so rest assured it isn’t a problem if your dog likes to shout every now and then! Don’t we all? As we get to know each other at the start of your journey with me, you can tell me about your dogs triggers and we will find a location and time where they’ll be as comfortable as possible. No dog deserves to be left out.

  • We all know what London weather is like. As long as it’s dry, we’ll most likely be able to go ahead with a session, unless the cloud coverage takes away all my light! If the weather takes a turn for the worst, we can of course reschedule!
